Color Guard

Tullahoma High School Guard

Our Color Guard is a vital part of our fall program! These young people have to always be on their "A-Game" as their contribution visually is crucial to pulling off a successful marching season! Unlike performing musicians being a visual performer has it's own unique challenges and in many ways is much less forgiving. Our color guard is top notch and under the direction of Mr. Joshua Dailey is on the the path to achieve even great possibilities in the near future!

Fall Marching Color Guard

The fall color guard is an audition only group. Auditions take place after a week long clinic in the late spring. Students learn fundamentals in choreography, flag/equipment technique, and movement. These fundamentals will be evaluated as well as showcased in a performance on equipment and in choreography set to music during the audition process at the end of the clinic week.
Auditions are open to any student attending or projected to attend Tullahoma High School in the upcoming fall season regardless of participation in the band program previously.
Students will be invited to join the team if they show a diligence in work ethic and a willingness to learn, exemplary attendance, and satisfactory reports from teacher recommendations or discipline records.
Fall guard students will enroll in 5th block band class and will receive a fine arts credit as well as being graded on rehearsal techniques, formal assessments, and performance/rehearsal attendance.

WinterGuard

The winter program is currently going through an evolutionary phase! Winterguard is a performance outlet for students that is moved indoors in the post-fall marching season. Winter guard performs indoors in a gym and offers students to further refine and learn skills and techniques while working towards artistic excellence in the visual arts! The directors are exploring new possibilities for this program and for the upcoming year we are excited to explore the following two possibilities!

Varsity Winterguard (Competitive)
This group will be an audition only group of performers who will rehearse tentatively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and alternating Saturdays. (A schedule will be released as it is finalized) This group will compete in the South Central Guard Circuit as a WGI sanctioned group. This is a purely extracurricular group, meaning there will be higher expectations and requirements in order to be eligible to join as it is not an academically funded course.
We will have auditions on Oct 20th-23rd. After auditions have been concluded, we will invite members to join the varsity team and more information including fees, expectations, and contracts will be given at an informational meeting for parents and students. Students wishing to participate must be in good academic standing in all classes, exhibit exceptional attendance and discipline across the board, as well as in good financial standing with the band program. There will be a mandatory fee in order to participate, but there will be ample fundraising opportunities to help off-set these costs.

Wildcat Winterguard
The Wildcat Winterguard is an extracurricular group that will be open to any current or prospective member! There is no upfront cost and is even open to current band members who play an instrument on the field in the fall season. This is also a great way for students who are interested in joining guard in the fall can begin their training early and get their foot in the door prior to our auditions in the late spring.
This group will include the varsity members as well as anyone who wants a winterguard experience but is not able to commit to the time or financial commitment required for the competitive team.
The WIldcat Winterguard will meet primarily during class time (5th block) in the fall season with some after school rehearsals (to be determined) and will pivot to an after school rehearsal schedule in the Spring semester. Students will still be held to a high standard and will be required to sign a performance and rehearsal schedule agreement in order to be eligible to participate.
